A student from a campus group at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) was told by a local bakery it would not bake them a multi-colored cupcake to celebrate “National Coming Out Day” on October 11…. Lilly Stockton of “Just Cookies” told a reporter they don’t do cupcakes. Then she said she didn’t have enough colors for the order, But her husband Dave gave a different reason for the turn-down….”I explained we’re a family-run business, we have two young, impressionable daughters and we thought maybe it was best not to do that,” said co-owner David Stockton.
How pathetic is it when you can’t get a bakeries to make you cupcakes because you’re…GASP, OHMIGOD!!!…GAY? Are gays less deserving of dessert? Does their deviant, perverted lifestyle render them unworthy of cupcakes, a treat normally deserve for more…well, normal people?? Is their money somehow less legal tender than heterosexual money? If “Just Cookies” allowed customers to use their rest room, would they require homosexuals to use a separate, less well-appointed rest room?
Call me naive, but what is it that causes so many to harbor so much hatred towards specific groups? If it’s not homosexuals, it’s non-Christians, or Muslims, or Democrats, or Liberals, or Packers fans…ad nauseum, ad infinitum. It seems as if some folks feel unfulfilled if they don’t feel themselves superior enough to a class of people to justify treating them as second-class citizens. What I really don’t get is a small business refusing a potential customer’s money because of who they are. Perhaps “Just Cookies” should more accurately be called “Just Cookies…But Only For Good, God-Fearing, Straight Christian Folks”. I had no idea that gay dollars were worth less than heterosexual dollars…because business is so good they can afford to turn away customers whose lifestyle offends them.
Good luck staying in business with that kind of attitude towards your customers. I have a feeling you’ll be hearing a LOT more from them shortly….
Then again, perhaps homosexuals really DON’T deserve cupcakes….
