Time to force McCain to decide which of his homes he'll retire to

In every age the vilest specimens of human nature are to be found among demagogues.

  • Macaulay

I’ve never heard of Rodney Glassman before. I know nothing about him, other than he’s the Democrat running again John McCain for McCain’s seat in the US Senate. I’ve posted the ad for Glassman, not because I’m receiving anything in the way of compensation for him, but because I’m JUST THAT COMMITTED to seeing McCain defeated on November 2nd.

I don’t live in Arizona (I live in Portland, OR)…but if I did, I’d be volunteering, manning a phone bank, block walking, robbing liquor stores (just kidding), or doing anything else I could to defeat McCain. Arizonans, and Americans in general, deserve better than the dishonest, pandering, rageaholic demagogue that McCain has morphed into. It’s time for Arizona to do the right thing and retire John McCain.

This being Arizona we’re talking about, Glassman faces some long odds. Current polling places him 14 percentage points behind McCain. Generally speaking, most Arizonans would vote for a ham sandwich if it was followed by an “R”. It’s a phenomenon I’m all too familiar with after living in Texas for 10 years. Still, change is not impossible (see Bill White in Texas), and to paraphrase the late Margaret Mead, committed people are the only ones who can really change the world.

Let’s face reality; John McCain will say or do ANYTHING to advance his political aspects. The number of occasions when he has taken stands that directly repudiate his public, well-documented positions are too numerous to count. His dishonesty and willingness to pander to the lowest common denominator are legend. Even worse, McCain could have been President…which should scare the Hell out of every decent, lucid American.

It’s long past time that John McCain’s dishonest, self-absorbed, mean-spirited Senate career was ended. Arizona deserves better.

Yes, I honor McCain’s service to his country and the seven years of his life he forfeited while a POW in the Hanoi Hilton. He could have chosen to conduct himself with honor and proven himself worthy of the respect of a grateful nation. Instead, he’s repeatedly demonstrated himself to be a liar, a demagogue, and a miserable excuse for a human being. It didn’t have to happen, but this is the road he’s chosen. Now it’s time to end that journey and provide Arizona (and America) with honesty, integrity, and decency.

If you think I’m underestimating McCain’s willingness to say whatever he thinks he needs to say in order to advance his political prospects, just check out The Daily Flip Flop at RodneyGlassman.com.

If I could, I’d be pulling out my debit card and making a donation to Rodney Glassman. I don’t know who he is or what he stands for, but if I lived in Arizona I’d vote for a ham sandwich before I’d vote for John McCain.

IT’S. TIME. TO. RETIRE. JOHN. MCCAIN.
