In the interview, Brad Watson, political reporter for WFAA-TV (Channel 8), asked Broden about a tea party event last year in Fort Worth in which he described the nation’s government as tyrannical…. “We have a constitutional remedy,” Broden said then. “And the Framers say if that don’t work, revolution.”…. Watson asked if his definition of revolution included violent overthrow of the government. In a prolonged back-and-forth, Broden at first declined to explicitly address insurrection, saying the first way to deal with a repressive government is to “alter it or abolish it.” Watson asked if violence would be in option in 2010, under the current government…. “The option is on the table. I don’t think that we should remove anything from the table as it relates to our liberties and our freedoms,” Broden said, without elaborating. “However, it is not the first option.”
I take no joy in spotlighting (and hopefully humiliating) insane Republican political candidates…but damn if there isn’t a bumper crop of them this year, eh? My latest walking, talking argument for Thorazine is (allegedly) a man of God, a pastor whose job is preaching the Word of God and bringing people to violent, bloody revolution Jesus Christ. Whatever….
Of course, it shouldn’t take a Ph.D. to figure out that if Stephen Broden is a man of God, then I’m Freddie Mercury. A man of God doesn’t advocate for violent revolution against a democratically-elected government. Interesting, isn’t it? A heavily medicated card-carrying member of the Rabid Right advocates for the violent overthrow of the American government, and no one says “BOO!” Should anyone on the Left side of the political spectrum do the same thing…well, I doubt you could even imagine the Sturm und Drang that would surely and immediately erupt. Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly would probably have simultaneous spontaneous orgasms as they erupt in paroxysms of righteous indignation and outrage. The pitchforks and torches brigades would be out in full force, demanding the head of the demon Lefty who would DARE to advocate for revolution. Broden does it, and he’s met with radio silence from the Mainstream Media.
NOPE, NO DOUBLE STANDARD HERE, PEOPLE! MOVE ALONG…NOTHING TO SEE HERE….
And you wonder why the separation of Church and State is so damned important….
