Willie Horton redux: an open letter to Sharron Angle

I’m Sharron Angle, and I approved this ad….

Dear Mrs. Angle:

Congratulations; you’ve just made it crystal clear that you have nothing of value to offer the voters of Nevada. You have no ideas, no positive message, nothing that will move this country forward. No, you’re building your political house and staking your prospects on the soft sand of racism, fear-mongering, and race-baiting. It’s bad enough thought the imagery in your ad also appears in campaign ads for Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), an equally odious excuse for a human being. Rather than talk about how you’ll work to change things, to make a difference that will benefit the people of Nevada and the US, you’ve decided to wallow in the mud. You, Mrs. Angle, are truly a miserable excuse for a human being. The sad thing is that it didn’t have to be this way.

What’s even sadder about this sorry saga is that you’re tied in the polls with Sen. Harry Reid. Are Nevadans REALLY that stupid and easily manipulated? Are they REALLY that prejudiced and filled with hatred? Yes, I understand that the unemployment rate in Nevada is something like 14%…which only makes your ad even more objectionable and disgusting. Instead of talking about how you plan to make things better, you’re engaging in aggressive fear-mongering and race-baiting. Now there’s some inspired Conservative leadership, eh? Stay classy….

Perhaps you’d be so kind as to remind me why ANY reasonable, lucid individual would voter Republican on November 2nd? ‘Cuz I just can’t wrap my head around how voters could be so phenomenally stupid as to think that race-baiting and fear-mongering will accomplish anything positive. Why anyone with anything resembling a functional sense of decency would vote for you is something that defies rational explanation.

I can hardly wait until November 2nd, when, if there’s any justice in this world, you’ll be relegated to the obscurity of the moral swamp that spawned you. I can only hope that there’s a reserved parking space in Hell waiting for you.
