Sure, they killed 6 millions Jews...but they were mostly just misunderstood

All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.

I can understand the fascination with military history. I myself have a lifelong fascination with strategy, tactics, and the political calculations and circumstances that lead to and define a war. Having said that, even I recognize that there’s a pronounced difference between harboring an interest in the strategy and conduct of war and glorifying unvarnished Evil. No reasonable person could make a convincing argument that dressing up in Nazi regalia is anything but offensive and completely and willfully ignorant of the totality of Evil that was Nazi Germany. Rich Iott’s past as an active participant in recreating Nazi history is even more offensive given his desire to represent his Ohio district in Congress. Of course, he’s a Republican, which means never having to say that you’re sorry, no matter how egregious, insensitive, or offensive your personal peccadilloes happen to be.

Iott, being an Ohio Republican, enjoys the support of John Boehner, the heir presumptive to the Speaker’s chair should the GOP win a majority in the House of Representatives. Neither Boehner nor Iott seem to know, care, or understand the highly offensive nature of Iott’s hobby. Part of me wonders what part of “THEY MURDERED 6 MILLION JEWS” they fail to understand. Are they that ignorant of history, or do they really believe that genocide is something whose effect fades with the passage of time?

Sure, they killed six million Jews, but they were really organized, the loved law and order, and the trains ran on time!! So, yeah…that was then, and this is now…and Rich Iott would NEVER kill six million Jews. That’s why we’re voting for Rich Iott!! Idiocracry writ large….

And you wonder why I fear for the future of our country….
