It's all fun and games until a celebrity loses their head

Yeah, so it was a big weekend here in Da Beaver State. The Civil War game, one of the oldest rivalries in college football, held some extra meaning this time around. All Oregon had to do was to beat Oregon State in order to virtually ensure itself a place in the BCS Championship game next month, a place the Ducks had never been before. Oregon State, on the heels of a 5-6 season heading into the game, was looking mostly to play spoiler, but with a win they’d be 6-6 and eligible for a postseason bowl game. It was a fun game to watch, Oregon won 37-20, and so now they’ll play Auburn for the national championship. Still, that wasn’t the most important (and distressing) news to emerge from Corvallis.

Sometime before the end of the game, someone (a disgruntled Beavers fan?) absconded with the giant Lee Corso head that ESPN had made famous in a commercial filmed on the Oregon campus. How serious did ESPN’s Game Day crew take the disappearance of Corso’s oversized head? Well, serious enought that Erin Andrews took to her Twitter account to plead for the safe return of Corso’s massive noggin.

Thankfully, the story has a happy ending. Corso’s head was located near the home of an OSU employee, and it’s been returned to it’s rightful home at ESPN.

So, Lee Corso has his head back, the Ducks are going to be playing for the National Championship, and Erin Andrews gave an impromptu pole dance at a Burgerville in Corvallis. Yeah, life in the Beaver State is good (and no beaver jokes, ‘kay??)….

Well, OK, I made up the bit about the pole dance, but a man can dream, right??

Y’all can now returned to your regularly-scheduled ignoring the Pacific Northwest…. ;-)
