Separation of Church and State? That's for losers and Liberals.

OK, you asked for it, and so here, and so here it is…the best press release EVER:

FRANKFORT, Ky.— Governor Steve Beshear today joined the Ark Encounter LLC to announce the planned construction of a full-scale Noah’s Ark tourist attraction in northern Kentucky.

Yes, you read that correctly; the Governor of Kentucky is using the power of his bully pulpit (and up to $37.5 million in tax incentives) in order to subsidize a business proposition designed to support Christianity. I realize this is Kentucky, where, like Iran, the Church IS the State, but I think any thoughtful person would look at this with a jaundiced eye. The obvious question, at least in my mind, is whether or not Gov. Beshear would be so eager to support a mosque or Islamic community center? I think we all know what the answer to that question is. To quote the immortal John Boehner:

“HELL, NO, YOU CAN’T!!!”

Kentuckians, as you might imagine, are all atwitter over their state becoming the new home to the modern Noah’s Ark. As far as most of them are concerned, this is the biggest thing to hit Kentucky since they invented the horse.

Don’t worry, libruls. Kentucky has thought about this. This theme park is very much a for-profit endeavor and ABSOLUTELY no money will go to, say, helping the poor, so it’s all good. Just business.

Interesting, isn’t it? Conservatives want Big Government out of their lives…unless said Big Government happens to be pushing something that supports their narrow, Jesus-y, self-interested agenda. I’d called it hypocritical in the extreme, but that seems somehow superfluous. Of COURSE it’s hypocritical; but Conservative White Christians just think they’re getting their due before evil Muslims and their inhuman Sharia take over the country and force us all to kneel towards Mecca five times a day.

Right. When you do it, it’s the worst sort of anti-Christian, anti-American demagoguery imaginable. When we do it, we’re simply standing up for good Christian values and working to keep America safe for good, God-fearing White Folks. After all, you’re living in America; you by definition should be a Conservative Christian….

Despite what you may have been thinking, dinosaurs still do roam the Earth…they’ve just migrated to Kentucky.
