So it appears that our sucky economy is driving us to drink. The percentage of Americans drinking alcohol is at its highest level since 1985. This might appear to be indicative of a problem to some, but I’m not certain that Prohibition is the answer. For those who complain about the alleged ever-increasing involvement of Big, Intrusive Government in our lives, prohibiting the sale and consumption of alcohol would seem to run counter to their beliefs. Besides, isn’t anesthetizing ourselves with alcohol the preferred method of self-medication in this country?
