Proof that irony is not a lost art here in the Beaver State

Solar power…not something that might leap to mind when you think of Oregon. After all, it’s early May, and we’re finally seeing the sun for the first time since…well, it feels like September.

I’m wondering if perhaps ODOT might be able to rent the solar panels out during the eight months of the year where the sun is a fugitive? I’m not sure what the market might be for this sort of thing, but here are a few ideas that I came up with:

  • picnic tables
  • massage tables
  • air hockey tables
  • beer pong tournaments
  • autopsy tables

I’m sure there are more and probably better ideas out there, but if the silly things aren’t going to be of use for 7-8 months a year, why not try to recoup a little something on ODOT’s (and Oregon taxpayers) investment?
