The edumication of Jack continues....

The past couple of months have been nothing if not an education for me. It’s been devastating, sad, fun, amazing…and definitely full of surprises. I’ve learned a bunch of things that I hope will serve me well going forward….

  • Sometimes what you think you have isn’t at all close to the reality of what you actually have.

  • There’s very little that can’t be fixed by liberal applications of gin, tonic water, and limes.

  • Sadly, the same cannot be said for Tennessee Whiskey.

  • Of course, there’s a price to be paid for being a lightweight when it comes to drinking.

  • Sometimes, beautiful eyes and a killer smile are just too much to pass on.

  • Being treated like a priority instead of an option NEVER gets old.

  • Sometimes, when one door closes, another really does open.

  • The old rules no longer apply. This is a very good thing.

  • Sometimes, you need to allow others to willingly do for you what you would willingly do for them.

  • There are those who bemoan what you’re not. These folks are not worth your time and energy.

  • Those are those see and value you for what you are. Cherish them for all you’re worth.

  • Sometimes amazing sneaks up on you.

  • Blondes really do have (and are) more fun.

  • It’s easy to get caught up in your own history. Then you realize that someone comes along who has an even more eclectic and unusual history than you. This is a good thing.

  • Every now and again, everything you need and want is right there in front of you.

  • Perspective is everything.

  • When you’re open to possibilities, once in awhile something comes along that absolutely blows your mind and defies description.

  • Did I mention that a well-constructed Gin & Tonic is next to godliness?

  • You can tell a lot about a person by the way their family relates to them.

  • A dream is not something to be taken lightly.

  • Finding someone who believes in that dream even more than you do is pretty freakin’ awesome.

  • Sometimes you really don’t need to ask why.

  • Sometimes just accepting it for what it is and letting the past go is the smartest thing you could possibly do.

  • Anyone who says sex is highly overrated is doing it wrong.

  • Wounds heal. The key is to not let them become scars.

  • Losing 10 pounds is easy when you get your head straight.

  • A Gin & Tonic is a wonderful source of Vitamin C. And gin. Ain’t no way I’m dying of scurvy.

  • Amazing really is.

  • Too much of a good thing seldom is.

  • I hope that I never work another 8-5 job as long as I live.

  • I don’t yet know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to make a living writing.

  • Being treated well NEVER gets old.

  • Being treated coldly and callously really, really sucks.

  • Honesty and integrity never grow old.

  • Kindness never grows old, either.

  • Karma can be a real bitch. It can also be pretty freakin’ amazing.

  • What goes around really does come around.

  • When you spend your time listening to the wrong person for the wrong reasons, bad things can happen.

  • When I can manage to stop letting my pride get in the way, some pretty amazing things happen.

  • There are those who see you for what you can do for them, and there are those who see you for what and who you are. It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to figure which is healthier.

  • Tanqueray and Grey Goose are gifts from God (if She, in fact, exists).
