Sadly, I must report that our brave and valiant gnomes have suffered their first casualty. Erin and I had some friends over for dinner a few days ago, and though the badly-outgunned gnomes put up a furious defense of the Fatherland Homeland, in the end they were overwhelmed by the superior firepower and energy of the children. Thankfully, only one gnome was wounded in the short but furious battle, but the poor guy’s going to be left-handed from now on…even once I’m able to put him back together.
I may have to seek reinforcements sooner than I’d anticipated. I’m not sure how long a lone outpost of five under-equipped gnomes are going to be able to hold out defending the back yard, and once winter comes they’re going to need some help….
