My life. In six words. Ugh.

Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you have.

Life is tough, and if you have the ability to laugh at it you have the ability to enjoy it.

On Sunday, I went to a writing workshop in Wilsonville. One of the the exercises we did was writing six-word memoirs. I wrote a few there, but when I came home…man, THAT’S when I go my creative second wind. So, as a warm up for November’s National Novel Writing Month, I thought I’d strain my brain a bit and share some of the results. I’m an essayist/columnist, and story-telling is going to be a serious stretch for me, but what can go wrong in six words…right??

  • Snipers, minefields, wine, women, and therapy.

  • Can you return defective Powerball tickets?

  • Failed to pick up blitz. Again.

  • Seven concussions. No Pulitzer Prize. Coincidence?

  • Waiting for other shoe to drop.

  • I was looking over wrong shoulder.

  • Her boyfriend was a linebacker. Ouch.

  • Turkish soldier. Trigger finger. Run, fool!!

  • Ran away. Got caught. Still running.

  • Frozen tundra. Malarial swamp. Finally Paradise.

  • First beer. Old Milwaukee? Warm spit?

  • Visited Hell. Came back…I think.

  • Loved wrong. Loved right. Better now.

  • Severed heads make for great conversation.

  • Still a legend in my mind.

  • Dysfunctional family. Made career of it.

  • Waiting for other shoe to drop.

  • Rough life. Soft landing. Damned lucky.

  • My moral high ground still floods.

  • All my exes live…well, everywhere.

  • Sorry, Mom. No grandkids for you.
