Fox News Channel makes you stupid: It wouldn't hurt if it wasn't true

This week Megyn Kelly fans were told that Pepper Spray is a ‘food product,’ Pizza is a ‘vegetable’ & FOX News is ‘News.’

OK, so I know you’ve heard it before…and you’ll probably hear it again. A study shows that viewers of Fox Noise Channel are demonstrably less informed than those who get their news elsewhere. This would explain why so many FNC devotees smugly act as if they’re smarter than the rest of us- they’re too uninformed to recognize how informed they truly are. No, I’m not going to call FNC devotees stupid- there are plenty of others out there willing to do that, and I don’t feel like being gratuitously (if not inaccurately) mean- but the studies speak for themselves. Fox Noise Channel is less an outlet for objective, meaningful journalism than it is a mouthpiece devoted to spouting Right-wing propaganda packaged and camouflaged as if it’s really news.

Let’s face it, when the notable face of a network include such intellectual and journalistic lightweights/reflexive ideologues as Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Gretchen Carlson, Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, and Megyn Kelly…well, you really have little claim to anything resembling credibility. Of course, I can’t fault FNC for their business model; being a Right-wing propaganda generator is clearly a very lucrative proposition, and network head Roger Ailes has turned propaganda into an art form. They’re the most popular cable “news” channel out there…which only goes to prove how malleable, ignorant, and easily propagandized the American Sheeple truly are.

Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don’t watch any news, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University. The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that “people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government” and “6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government” compared to those who watch no news.

Hey, why bother thinking critically when a pretty blonde with great cleavage can tell you what to think?? In fact, why think at all when you can simply react as and when needed? Conveniently, the cleavage will tell you when to be outraged, so you don’t have to waste previous brain cells trying to figure out things for yourself.

And you wonder why so many Americans continue to vote against their interests….
