When the truth is not your friend...well, there's always the Big Lie

I think there is a good reason why the propaganda system works that way. It recognizes that the public will not support the actual policies. Therefore it is important to prevent any knowledge or understanding of them.

  • Noam Chomsky

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic, and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

  • Josef Goebbels

In the wake of Tuesday’s election, which in a global sense can only accurately be interpreted as a ringing defeat of the Far Right’s anti-middle class agenda, much of the strategy for the coming year has been revealed. For the next 12 months, you might as well prepare yourself to feel as if your going to need a shower…because the truth is going to be taking a mud bath. With John Kasich’s union-busting law in Ohio and Mississippi’s Personhood amendment both going down to defeat, it’s becoming clear that there are two things that we’ll be able to count on:

1) The American Sheeple finally (thankfully) seem to be waking up and realizing that by supporting the Far Right agenda they voted into office in 2010, they were electing those dedicated to destroying the poor and the middle class.

2) The Far Right will use whatever means and spend whatever amounts of money they deem necessary to propagandize the American Sheeple into once again voting against their best interests. Truth will be beaten, smothered, and forced to take a long and unwanted holiday, because Democrats and President Obama will be blamed for everything from the “failed” stimulus to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby…none of which they’re actually responsible for.

And it’s already started….

Conservatives Trump Up Phony “Christmas Tree Tax” Story. Well, it IS almost time for the Department of War (on Christmas) to breathe life into the notion that Barack Obama hates the Baby Jesus SO much that he’d tax our Christmas trees. Never mind that the $.15 fee (which wouldn’t have impacted consumers) was first proposed during George W. Bush’s Reign of Error ©. Now Right-wing propagandists have found yet another club they can wield against the President…and before long the accepted line will be that Barack Obama hates Christmas, the Baby Jesus, AND America. Not bad for an illegitimate, Kenyan-born, freedom-hating Islamofascist, eh??

Wall Street Isn’t Winning - It’s Cheating. He who has the gold gets to not only make the rules, they get to buy enough media influence to create the public impression that greed really IS good.

Mark Block, Cain’s Chief-Of-Staff, Falsely ‘Confirms’ Accuser’s Son Works For POLITICO. No, there’s no truth to the rumor that Mark Block is a descendant of Josef Goebbels…but it does take a sizable set of cojones to go on national television and brazenly lie about something so demonstrably false and libelous. Not only does Josh Kraushaar no longer work for POLITICO (and he hasn’t since 2010), he’s not even related to Karen Kraushaar. Memo to Block: There’s this little thing I like to call “fact-checking”. It’s something that anyone with an Internet connection can do…so if you’re going to lie about something, at least try to look as if what you’re saying has some basis in the truth.

Terry Set To Run Graphic Anti-Choice Ads Against “Patently Evil” Obama. Memo to Randall Terry: Project much?? A belief system, even one as inflexible, intolerant, and hatred-based as yours, doesn’t bequeath upon you the right to smear those you irrationally despise using any means at your disposal. “Taking the SOB down by any means necessary” is not something I recall as being a teaching of Jesus Christ…not that you and your ignorant, intolerant brand of inbreds would know the first thing about, would you?

KASICH RESPONDS TO ISSUE 2 LOSS: CLEARLY, OHIOANS ‘DIDN’T LIKE THE TOOLS WE OFFERED’. Hmm…this certainly represents an interesting way to spin an embarrassing and resounding defeat. Rather than admit that his war on the middle class was soundly slapped down, Kasich parries by framing the defeat as if it represents a minor disagreement about his approach to neutering the middle class. Somewhere warm and breezy, Josef Goebbels is snickering into his Corona….

Republicans: Super Committee Remarks By Chuck Schumer Are Proof Obama Wants It To Fail: I believe it was Mitch McConnell who stated that “Job One” was…no, not putting people back to work or fixing health care or addressing growing income inequality. No, “Job One” to McConnell was ensuring that Barack Obama is a one-term President. So, with that in mind, do you REALLY think that Republicans would do ANYTHING that could even tangentially be interpreted as a victory for the President? In that light, it makes sense that Republicans would spin things so that it appears as if the President is the one hoping for failure so that he can blame Republicans on the campaign trail in 2012.

Gingrich’s 13 Second Flip-Flop: No ‘Advantage’ To U.S. Staying In Iraq, But Disapproves Of Obama’s Decision To Withdraw. I suppose I should be applauding Gingrich for his masterful attempt to admit the obvious while simultaneously blaming the President for the same thing. I find it astonishing that a man so ostensibly intelligent as Gingrich can be such a brazen, if not particularly original, propagandist.

Personhood USA Blames Planned Parenthood For Loss in Mississippi. Rather than accept the reality that their amendment, which would have established that life begins when a man begins thinking about sex at fertilization is bad law, the people behind the personhood movement are blaming the bogeyman of the day. What…ACORN wasn’t available to be a whipping boy??

GOP Rep. Joe Walsh Melts Down, Screams At Constituents: ‘Dont Blame Banks!…I Am Tired Of Hearing That Crap!’. Lacking a convincing argument to refute what is demonstrably and provably true, Walsh resorted to a time-honored strategy: shouting down his ideological adversaries. Later, Walsh blamed his epic rant on an “empty stomach.” Stay classy, Joe…and remember that you’re an elected representative of the Sheeple, NOT a royally-appointed bureaucrat with a lifetime sinecure.

Yep; bring plenty of soap, a pair of goggles, and a LOT of towels. It’s going to take awhile to scrub off the grime that will be tossed our way over the coming year….
