Better to be thought a moron than to be Jules Manson and...oh, never mind....

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Jules Manson

They just don’t come more charming than Southern California Tea Party knob and failed local politician Jules Manson, previously known for not being elected as a councilman for the City of Carson and also for posting Obama=Hitler pictures. Jules Manson was not done with his Internet fame, however. Because now he has issued a CALL FOR OBAMA’S ASSASSINATION, on Facebook, because the Constitution demands it, that’s why. Barack Obama just signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which has enraged Americans still concerned about civil liberties while also causing people like Manson to declare Facebook civil war. The post, since deleted but captured by bloggers, includes the important call to “assassinate the fucken nigger and his monkey children.”

One of the things I love about my country is that our Constitution guarantees the freedom of speech and expression. This doesn’t presuppose that all speech and expression is worthwhile…or even lucid. Much of the time, said speech and expression is little more than the paranoid ramblings of pinheads in serious need of having their medications adjusted.

In America, any of us can say what’s on our mind- as long as we’re not advocating violent overthrow of the government or the assassination of the President. This is where today’s “honoree”, Jules Manson comes in. Manson, evidently no one’s idea of a diplomat, is off his medication AND advocating the assassination of the President and his family.

I’ve said many a time that free speech can be and often is offensive and objectionable speech. That said, being a White teabagger doesn’t give you the right to advocate the assassination of President Obama and his family simply because you can’t stomach the idea of an African-American Democrat in the White House. Freedom of speech may be a wonderful thing, but words do have meaning…and sometimes they can lead to unfortunate results.

Should we take the words of one idiot madman as the sentiment of an entire movement? Perhaps not…but that doesn’t mean there aren’t significant numbers of teabaggers who don’t feel exactly the same way Manson does. For whatever reason, these folks seem incapable of understanding and accepting the idea that a Democrat and, even worse, an African-American is the elected President of the United States. No amount of reason, logic, or evidence seems sufficient to convince mental midgets like Manson of objective reality.

What I find to be truly disturbing about this episode is the lack of play it’s received in the Mainstream Media. You don’t think things might be different if a wacked-out Liberal had been advocating for the assassination of a Republican President and his family?? I daresay the howls of righteous indignation and the weeping and gnashing of teeth would be heard from Right-wing media outlet to shining Right-wing media outlet.

Remember, when a Democrat does it, it’s the worst sort of ugly, anti-American partisanship and advocating for violent revolution imaginable. When a Teapublican does it, it’s a patriot merely trying to take our country back and restore freedom and liberty.
