If you're wondering why I hate the Green Bay Packers, this should give you an idea

APPLETON — Police say a drunken woman twice choked her 11-year-old daughter on Sunday after becoming angered by the Green Bay Packers game. The 36-year-old Grand Chute woman was charged Monday in Outagamie County Court with felony child abuse and misdemeanor counts of bail jumping and disorderly conduct. Police were called about 8:15 p.m. Sunday to a Grand Chute hotel where the girl told police her mother grabbed her by the neck during the football game. The woman was drinking alcohol and became upset because the team was losing. The girl said that after the Packers lost, her mother choked her again with enough force that the girl couldn’t breathe, and her mother said, “Do you want to die?” the criminal complaint says.

Over the years, I’ve made no secret of my hatred for the evil, blood-sucking Green Bay Packers. As a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings, it’s kinda personal. Packers-Vikings games are a Midwestern (if overly polite) version of war…or at least as close as Minnesota and Wisconsin could ever come to war. This year, Minnesota’s 2-12 and Green Bay’s 13-1, so there’s not a lot of drama in the rivalry, but normally it gets pretty intense.

I root for Minnesota and whoever’s playing Green Bay on a given Sunday. Last weekend, it was the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs, generally a threat only to themselves, actually ruined the Packers’ perfect season, beating Green Bay 19-14. Most Packer’s fan were rather sanguine about the loss. It’s only one game, and Green Bay is still the best team in the NFL. Odds are pretty good that QB Aaron Rodgers and Coach Mike McCarthy will be raising the Lombardi Trophy after winning the Super Bowl.

One fan (and candidate for (not exactly) Mother of the Year) in Grand Chute, WI, didn’t deal with the loss all that well, nearly choking her daughter to death.

Kinda makes you wonder what she would have done to her unlucky progeny if the Packers had lost the Super Bowl, doesn’t it?
