GOP 2012: Honestly, "mediocre" would be a serious upgrade

In the republic of mediocrity, genius is dangerous.

  • Robert Green Ingersoll

With Iowa in our rear-view mirror, and Liar-in-Chief Mitt Romney emerging “victorious” (by EIGHT votes??) over LIttle Ricky, the stakes only become bigger for the 2012 GOP Presidential candidates. Like never before, GOP hopefuls are ratcheting up the crazy. Lies, half-truths, and made up facts? Hey, if it serves the purpose of getting them closer to the nomination…well, honesty and integrity are for losers and Liberals, knowhutimean??

Given that it’s only January, there’s still plenty of time left. There’s still plenty of time for the birthers, bigots, and teabaggers to make their presence felt. In the meantime, sick puppies like me will probably just sit back and enjoy the show as Republicans continue to eat their young.

Remember Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment (Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican)? Think that still holds truth in 2012? Yeah…Reagan was so 25 years ago. Civility, honesty, and integrity are for those who don’t mind finishing second.

Newt Gingrich vs. Mitt Romney: Former House Speaker Says GOP Hopeful Is A Liar: And you’re fat…so there!! NYAHNYAHNYAH!!!

Romney supporters tell Occupy protesters to ‘get a job!’: I imagine they’d love to do just that…if there were any jobs to be had. Perhaps Romney would be better advised to stop channeling Marie Antoinette.

Last-day Ron Paul ad is his sharpest anti-Romney attack yet: A bigot and a zealot attacking a fellow Republican for being a “Liberal”? My God, I love watching Republicans eat their young.

Santorum’s Racist Welfare Rant: ‘I Don’t Want To Make Black People’s Lives Better’ With Taxpayer Money: Isn’t it nice that Santorum can be honest about the hatred of non-Whites and non-Republicans that drives so many of them?

Santorum: ‘Your blood will boil’: Right: if you can appeal to people’s anger, you don’t have to worry about them actually thinking and perhaps asking you uncomfortable questions.

Gingrich: I was ‘Romney-boated’: WTF? This from the man who once counseled Republican candidates to describe their Democratic opponents using words like “sick” and “twisted”? You almost need a Sherpa to climb through the hypocrisy.

REPORT: The Republican Candidates’ Economic Agenda For The 1 Percent: What? You think Republicans are going to bite the hands that feed them?

Rick Perry Undertakes Last-Minute Push To Avoid Embarrassing Showing In Iowa Caucus 2012: Rick Perry and embarrassing go together like Gay Republican Senators and men’s restrooms.

Perry: Romney ‘the magnet’ for illegal immigrants: If you look under “desperate” in the dictionary, you’ll see a picture of Rick Perry.

NEWT SAYS THERE’S INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE, CITING HIS EXPERTISE AS ‘AN AMATEUR PALEONTOLOGIST’: It’s difficult to tell if that’s that “amateur paleontologist” speaking…or the professional prevaricator.

Romney on health reform, then and now. There’s this little thing I like to call “The Internet”, which turns out to be a fabulous tool for fact-checking. In this case, it demonstrates conclusively that Mitt Romney’s a liar.

Santorum Feels ‘Sorry’ For Gay Activist Who Glitter Bombed Him: Right: if only everyone lived, loved, and believed as Santorum does. He’d be SO much more comfortable….

Bachmann tells CNN’s O’Brien her ‘gotcha questions are bizarre’: Yeah, how dare ANYONE quote her accurately and then question her belief that Gays are evil, godless trolls bent on forcing their Big Gay Agenda on our children while simultaneously destroying the sanctity of marriage?

Rick Santorum: States Should Have Power To Ban Birth Control, Sodomy. And if states are allowed the power to ban birth control and sodomy, shouldn’t they also have the power to encourage it??
