Coffee, tea, or donkey semen?

UPDATED: Donkey semen is off the Fear Factor menu. NBC has yanked tonight’s planned episode of the reality series, after it broke late last week that contestants would be served donkey semen. The episode had groups of twins competing for $50,000 and competing a trio of stunts, with donkey semen chugging as one of the segments (and surviving an electric fence as another)…. The network had no comment on its decision to yank the episode, which was a source of debate behind the scenes. Producers typically make the case to network censors that a gross food item on the show is always a delicacy in some part of the world (horse semen is consumed in Australia and New Zealand).

Yeah, so I spent pretty much my entire weekend working on a project that may or may not bear fruit. Such is the risk one takes when one attempts to color outside the lines. Much effort for potentially little (or no) reward. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and step off the edge, right? Then again, no matter how bad, pointless, or unrewarding things might seem, I can guaran-damn-tee that you will never, ever see my name mentioned in connection with an article bearing a headline like this:

NBC PULLS ‘FEAR FACTOR’ DONKEY SEMEN EPISODE.

No, that’s not a typo. Last night’s Fear Factor episode featured contestants competing in, among other things, drinking donkey semen. I could go into excruciating detail but really, what is there to add that could possibly make it any more odd, weird…and just plain gross?

Man, I will never be able to look at a cup of soy yogurt or an oyster on the half shell in quite the same way ever again.

Eww. Just eww.
