GOP 2012: Because a sausage fest is EXACTLY how we should be parsing women's rights

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA)

WASHINGTON — Three Democrats walked out of a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing on religious liberty and the birth control rule on Thursday to protest Chairman Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) refusal to allow a progressive woman to testify in favor of the Obama administration’s contraception rule. The morning panel at the hearing consisted exclusively of men from conservative religious organizations…. “What I want to know is, where are the women?” Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) asked Issa before walking out of the hearing after the first panel. “I look at this panel, and I don’t see one single individual representing the tens of millions of women across the country who want and need insurance coverage for basic preventative health care services, including family planning. Where are the women?”

You’d think that a hearing concerning any aspect of contraception would feature testimony from women. Seeing as how contraceptive coverage is normally an issue that primarily impacts women…well, it just stands to reason that the distaff half of the population, being primary stakeholders in this issue, would be granted the opportunity to speak on the subject.

Well, engaging in that sort of reason would be your first mistake….

As it turns out, the REAL authorities on female reproductive functions are men- Socially Conservative and highly religious Republican men, to be exact. The ladies can be SO overly emotional, don’tchaknow?? How can they be expected to make a reasoned, dispassionate argument when they’re always so governed by hormones and emotion?

I suppose we should be thankful for brave, thoughtful patriots like Rep. Issa, who, recognizing that allowing women to speak would introduce emotion and distraction to what should be a sober discussion, declined to allow women to testify. Hey, as any REAL American knows, the most authoritative experts on lady parts are men…religious, Socially Conservative men.

It’s What Jesus Would Do.
