HOUSTON - Security camera footage from a well-known gay bar has played a key role in a hit-and-run investigation of a former Houston City Councilman, who is now a conservative talk show host, Local 2 Investigates reported on Wednesday. A Houston man reported to police that KTRH talk show host Michael Berry plowed his SUV into another car outside T.C.’s Show Baron Converse near Fairview in the Montrose area about 11 p.m. on January 31st. Tuderia Bennett, of Galena Park, told Houston police that he was working as a bouncer at the front door during a popular cross-dressing ‘drag show’ that was going on inside the club. He watched the crash happen and told police he rushed up to the car after impact and got a good look at Berry behind the wheel.
During my 10 years in Houston, one of my “favorite” Conservative hypocrites was former City Councilman Michael Berry, who made a name for himself hating on the GLBT community 24/7. Well, guess who showed up on security camera footage from inside a gay bar in Houston? This was just before Berry was involved in a hit-and-run accident in front of the bar, an accident that Berry evidently won’t be charged for. Though one bouncer positively identified Berry as being behind the wheel of the SUV (he even took down the license plate number of Berry’s vehicle), HPD is declining to press charges against Berry, claiming that no one at the scene could positively identify the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle. (Hey, we can’t charge him; he’s Conservative AND White!!)
Or was it just that no STRAIGHT person could positively identify Berry…’cuz you know how flightly and unreliable Teh Gayz can be, right??
True to form, Berry demonstrated that the best defense against the truth is a good offense:
Berry, in a feat of anti-gay sorcery, managed to discuss the police investigation on his show while failing to mention the gay bar, the drag show, the gay bouncer, or any other piece of the story.
Berry told listeners, “When you poke your finger in somebody’s eye every day like I do, you make enemies,” he said. “There will always be attacks on me…that I said this, or did that. It takes a toll on you personally, but you simply can’t go and chase down every nasty thing said about you.”
Clearly in classic and furious damage control mode, Berry deleted his Facebook and Twitter accounts. Hey, no one can be hatin’ on you online if they can’t find you online, amiright??
Michael Berry, a Republican, former city councilman, and syndicated radio talk show host famous for thinking murderous thoughts about those of his fellow citizens who happen to be Muslims, has been accused of perpetrating a hit-and-run outside of T.C.’s Show Bar in the Montrose gayberhood of Houston on January 31st, 2011. Berry allegedly reversed some 70 feet in a Chevy Tahoe, slammed into the car of a bouncer named Tuderia Bennett, who happened to be standing right outside the bar, and sped away. Witnesses confirmed the hit and run, and Bennett says he got a clear look at the perp before he drove off, as well as a good reading of the vehicle’s license plate. When traced, the plate number turned out to be Berry’s.
I could care less if Berry buggers knot holes or large farm animals; that’s his own business…or at least it was until he decided that being virulently anti-gay on his radio show was the ticket to success. Once you start down that road, you can’t claim to be surprised when a lot of people are just waiting for you to slip up. And slip up is exactly what Berry has evidently done.

Another case of a closeted Conservative hating who and what he is and projecting it far and wide? Perhaps. An even more interesting question is why HPD is declining to press charges against Berry when there are witnesses (and his license plate number) that place him at the scene. Then again, having lived in the Houston area for 10 years, I can attest to the fact that HPD doesn’t have the most pristine record when it comes to fairness, objectivity, and even-handedness. Corruption, after all, is what you call it when you don’t have the money to buy your own justice.
