Today's dispatch from the attic

In what world populated by moral and decent people does this headline appear?: Republicans Retreat on Domestic Violence. I know; WTF?? Not so very long ago, Republicans were at least trying to camouflage their war against women. Now they’re not even bothering. What amazes me even more is that some women can see their way clear to voting for these cretins. Why would any lucid, self-respecting individual willing participate in their own subjugation? Unbelievable….

Today on “People Unclear On The Concept Of Christian Charity And Tolerance”: Will Same-Sex Marriage Lead to Five Men-Wastebasket Marriage? Yeah, that whole “man on dog sex” thing didn’t work out so well for Little Ricky, so it’s time for another tack, eh?

I find it interesting that Republicans are all about fiscal responsibility and debt reduction when a Democrat is in the White House. When Republicans rule Washington, though, they couldn’t care less about the debt. Who took office when the budget was balanced and then proceeded to run up the largest deficit in our nation’s history? Hmm…I believe that would be Captain Codpiece © … a Republican, if memory serves. Ronald Reagan also ran up the deficit during his reign. Why the hypocrisy? Because it’s not about the deficit, silly; it’s about power. Period. Any questions??

When your jobs plan is “Deport An Illegal Alien Today”, can you be considered anything but morally bankrupt…or, in other words, a Republican?

**

Don’t kid yourself; “Personhood” is just code for the GOP’s war on women. The mystery is how and why women continue voting for ignorant, self-absorbed misougynists.

**

Can anyone be surprised that the Koch brothers profited from Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme? Is it just me, or is it a safe bet that we’re never going to see the phrases “Koch brothers” and “human decency” appearing together in the same sentence?

**

Bravo and congratulations to the Occupy Tacoma protestors who shouted down Little Ricky on Monday night at the Washington State History Museum. When decent people stop standing up to the haters and those who would divide rather than unite, this country is in trouble.

**

Tony Perkins is absolutely apoplectic that the Left is trying to create a theocracy. I know; isn’t that the job of the Religious Right??

**

Mitt Romney says that drug testing the poor and unemployed who want to suck at the public teat is an “excellent idea.” Drug testing the rich and powerful sucking at the public teat via tax cuts and public subsidies? Eh, not so much….

I love it when Conservatives are unintentionally honest about the true goals behind their legislative efforts. In this case, Rep. Trent Franks is openly admitting that his bill to ban abortions based on the race or sex of the fetus is a thinly velied ruse designed to eventually criminalize all abortions. Yeah, but there’s this little thing called Roe v. Wade, which you can’t just blithely ignore because it runs counter to your beliefs.

The next Race for the Cure is this Sunday in El Paso, TX. My hope is that will begin to see the beginning of the end of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Or will Americans forgive Komen their egregious partisanship and continue donating to an inefficient, bloated, and corrupt charity more concerned with politics than its stated mission?

**

It’s good to know that Republicans in Congress are looking out for the moral welfare of employers. At least that’s what they’re calling their belief that health care isn’t a basic human right these days.

You have to know that you have WAY too much time on your hands when you accept the challenge of eating a spoonful of cinnamon in under a minute. If that even begins to sound like a good idea, you really need to make a decision to get out more.
