Trans-vaginal ultrasounds: Or, this is why cockroaches scatter when you turn on the lights

Interesting how those fighting the war on women insist on engaging in combat operations only in the dark, isn’t it? When the bright light of public attention is focusied on what Conservative men are up to, they begin to backpedal furiously, disclaiming any knowledge of what the bills they’re pushing actually will force upon women. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s assertion that he knew nothing of the invasive ultrasound requirement contained in his legislature’s “personhood” bill is as dishonest as it is disingenuous. Men like McDonnell know EXACTLY what they’re up to. What they’re counting on is women not paying attention so they can pass their anti-female agenda under cover of darkness.

How these men forget that women make up roughly half of the electorate and are quite capable of organizing and fighting back defies understanding. Of course, “personhood” is exactly the sort of narrow ideological warfare that can occur when we stop paying attention…and until we begin holding our elected representatives accountable, this problem will only get worse.

WE DESERVE BETTER.
