Doonesbury: What some newspapers refuse to let you see (3.16.12)

This week, Garry Trudeau’s Doonesbury story line is about the war on women and reproductive health care, using Texas (my favorite target and former home) and its new sonogram law as comic inspiration. Some newspapers, including The Oregonian here in Portland, are declining to run the strips. I’m running them here at WWJD because it’s a story that must be told. Enjoy them…but remember that this is not merely an effective attempt at humor. There really are Conservative, middle-aged White men who believe they have the right to define women as sperm receptacles and rightfully the property of men. And who think they know better than medical professionals how to handle women’s reproductive health care. News flash: attempting to shame women is not an effective way to win the votes of women.

Uh…if you don’t have a vagina, you really should be staying out of things you don’t understand??
