Franklin Graham: A case of the apple falling nowhere near the tree

When you can say that Newt Gingrich is a Christian, but you don’t believe President Obama to be…well, I think it can safely be said that the hypocrisy train has left the station. Rev. Franklin Graham has evidently failed to grasp a basic public relations concept: when you’ve fallen into the moral equivalent of quicksand, furiously flailing about will only succeed in further complicating your predicament. Why Graham would continue to go on nationally-televised news broadcasts (that aren’t Fox Noise Channel or the Christian Broadcast Network) defies rational understanding. You’ve already stepped in it, Reverend; why would you keep subjecting yourself to yet more opportunities to be exposed as a bigot and a hypocrite?

I have to think that if his father was healthy, he’s be slapping his misguided, ill-informed bigot of a son upside the head. Rev. Billy Graham understood all too well what could happen if the Far Right hooked up (figuratively speaking) with religious fundamentalists. Graham the Elder foresaw and predicted the rise of the American Taliban; I can’t imagine he ever suspected that his son would become Chief Mullah for the American Taliban.

Graham fils has already established that he’s a bigot and a religious hypocrite; not that we needed to be reminded of that fact. I’m not certain he really needs to continue reinforcing the perception that he’s a fool.
