GOP 2012: Because a closed mind is a great way to ward off uncertainty

I understand that those to the right of ideological center think that people like me are clueless loons who hate America…and Jesus. While I’m profoundly ambivalent about Jesus, I do love my country…enough to question those whose goal appears to be driving the bus into a ditch.

I don’t mind that those more Conservative than I think and believe differently; that’s what makes our democracy great. Would it be too much, though, to expect that those on the Right would at last have an open mind, that they would be married to Conservative orthodoxy uber Alles?

Evidently, the answer to that question is clear; it IS too much to ask. And so I introduce a collection of Conservatives who shouldn’t be allowed to sell Avon, much less have an influence over the direction our country is headed in. Collectively, if brains were dynamite, these intellectual and moral midgets wouldn’t be capable of blowing their noses.

Georgia Republican State Rep. Terry England. England gives a whole new meaning to the term, “male chauvinist pig.” While giving a speech on the floor of the Georgia House, he compared women to cows, pigs, and chickens. England’s either single, or he’s not getting any anytime soon. Oh…and the bill? It would ban abortions after 20 weeks even if the woman is carrying a stillborn fetus or the the fetus is not expected to live to term. The health and safety of a woman? Well, duh…it’s secondary to the “health” of a stillborn fetus.

Stay classy, Georgia!!

Rick Santorum . Ever the gatekeeper for all things moral and decent, Santorum has proposed making TelePrompters illegal. This all started, of course, because the President uses one, so Conservatives now roundly ridicule the President…even the ones who use TelePrompters. Making them illegal is merely Santorum once again convincing himself of his own unquestioned moral superiority.

Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL). The “issue” of President Obama’s birth certificate has long since been settled. Yet there are still idjits like Stearns who continue to pander those knuckle-dragging mouth breathers who refused to accept any evidence that doesn’t back up their fevered imagination.

Stearn should be ashamed of himself…but that would presume he actually knows what shame is.

Ted Cruz and Tony Perkins. When you have no hard evidence, and when the truth isn’t on your side, lying is always an effective way to advance your narrow agenda.

Grover Norquist. When your answer to every policy question is “Cut taxes”, you really need to just go home, lock the door, and go back to playing Dungeons and Dragons 24/7.

Randall Terry. Regardless of how full of yourself you may be, winning 18% of the vote IS NOT A VICTORY. Randall Terry may be many things…but a mathematician is clearly not on that list.

South Carolina Republican Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell. McConnell really, really, REALLY misses the Confederacy, when Blacks knew their place and White plantations owners ruled the roost.

Ryan Dobson. If you’re trying to reach and win a wider audience, portraying yourself as “Rush Limbaugh Lite” and accusing Sandra Fluke of “sleeping around” is a losing strategy.

House Financial Services Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-AL). When you’re a Congressman who views his primary role as looking out for banks…well, clearly your constituents are even dumber than you, because they keep voting you back into office in direct contravention of their best interests.

Bill Donohue. Donohue is the living, breathing personification of Gandhi’s complaint that “your Christians are so unlike your Christ. Donohue understands, respects, and lives the teaching of Jesus Christ in the same way I’m an NBA point guard.
