The Affordable Health Care Act: "Armageddon" ain't what it used to be

Remember when the Affordable Care Act became law two years ago? Remember the collective Republican prediction of dire consequences- “Armageddon” was, if memory serves the preferred GOP talking point at the time- and how our health care would now be subject to the whims of a capricious government bent on destroying liberty? A government that wanted only to take away our freedom?

So how’s that whole “Armageddon” thing working out for you? Surprisingly, ACA hasn’t ruined America, it hasn’t destroyed the health insurance industry, it hasn’t forced Socialism upon us, nor has it portended the end of America as we know it. Hmm…d’ya think all that breathless propaganda might just have been designed to propagandize and scare the American Sheeple into believing that ACA was just so much government overreach? Was a better, more fair and equitable health care system truly the worst, most evil thing our Kenyan Muslim Socialist President could have forced upon us? Yeah, not so much….

Hey, guess what, though? It turns out that ACA, while certainly not perfect (it’s still not universal health care), is certainly a damned sight better than what existed before.

Even Mitt Romney is celebrating ACA’s second birthday…by lying about it.

After the jump, you can relive some of the dire Conservative predictions. Frankly, I’m surprised we’re all not in chains and under the metaphorical heels of jack-booted government thugs….
