The Stanley Cup Playoffs: It's the most wonderful time of the year

You can talk about Christmas all you want, but for my money, the roughly two months from mid-April to mid-June is my favorite time of the year. The Stanley Cup Playoffs begin within a day or two of my birthday, and the quality of hockey makes the NHL regular season look like a lengthy, overpriced warm-up…which is exactly what it is.

Nothing says playoffs like New Jersey’s 3-2 victory over Florida on Thursday night. In Game 7. In double overtime.

And all New Jersey did was clinch their first-round series. Four games won. Twelve to go. The fun’s just beginning….
