GOP 2012: Because playing Russian Roulette isn't exactly a recipe for victory

When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front-row seat.

  • George Carlin

I can’t help but wonder when the GOP will finally wake up and recognize that pissing off 52% of the electorate is hardly a recipe for electoral success in November. Hopefully it won’t be until mid-November, when they’re licking they’re wounds and wondering where and how they went so horribly wrong. Instead of trying to figure out how they might increase their appeal to women, Republicans are heavily invested in pushing legislation that would effectively force women back to being second-class citizens. It’s like watching slow motion suicide by a political party lacking the self-awareness to recognize what they’re doing to themselves.

Then again, I’m grateful for that lack of self-awareness, because Republicans are doing for Democrats what Democrats should be doing for themselves. It’s like watch a train wreck unfold in slow motion in front of you. I can only hope that, finally, the American Sheeple will wake up to the reality of the Republican vision for America (Hint: it’s not about equality of opportunity; it’s about creating a system designed of, by, and for the wealthiest among us.).
