Imagine MSNBC putting together a four-minute infomercial attacking Mitt Romney; the hue and cry and weeping and gnashing of teeth would be heard from media outlet to shining media outlet. So Fox News Channel does exactly that…and Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson practically dislocate their shoulders patting themselves on the back.
It would seem that “Fair and Balanced” isn’t quite what it used to be…and isn’t it about time we dropped the charade that FNC is a news outlet? Not that saying that it’s the propaganda arm of the GOP is news…but how many millions of Americans continue to get their “news” from a channel that openly traffics in lies and propaganda? FNC consistently has the highest ratings of any cable “news” outlet…which only confirms my low estimation of the intellectual agility of the American Sheeple.
If Americans can’t be trusted to discern propaganda from reality, how can they be trusted to make an informed decision in November? The answer, of course, is that they can’t; how else could you explain eight years of George W. Bush? As ever, the American Sheeple will continue to vote against their own best interests…because they’re following instructions; they’ll vote the way Sean Hannity and Megyn Kelly tell them to.
