GOP 2012: Because integrity in a Presidential candidate is WAY overrated

It may be legal, but that doesn’t mean we have to actually make it available: It should surprise no one that Mississippi is poised to become the first state without an abortion clinic. Because who knows what women need more than a cabal of intolerant, hyper-religious, self-righteous White Folks who believe that their ideology/theology and ONLY their ideology/theology is the Truth?

Your Christians are SO unlike your Christ….

Good luck finding a spot in the front row: I feel the need to unwind, so I think I’ll head to a yoga class…with 14,000 of my closest friends.

Bringin’ da crazy: Not nearly as easy as Michele Bachmann makes it look: It’s takes a special kind of lunacy and detachment from reality to appear as thoroughly and completely unbalanced as Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) clearly is. Since she’s a Republican, no one in the media calls her on her ignorance and nonsense. We really should be able to expect better from a member of Congress. Then again, Bachmann is proof that Congress really is the opposite of progress.

Her latest offense against rationality and critical thinking? Well, how about claiming that President Obama has “spit on the Constitution,” and warning that the Muslim Brotherhood has “penetrated” the federal government.

Friends don’t let friends vote for Mitt Romney: We all have friends, co-workers, and acquaintances who are, um…”low-information voters.” They vote Republican reflexively because…well, because that’s what they’ve always done. Besides, Libruls are bad, mmmkayyy??

I realize that hectoring and lecturing the ignorant “low information voters” among us is a futile waste of breath. They’ll do what they do, with no amount of logic or reason being sufficient to sway them. That said, how about giving them three things to think about? Hey, it’s worth a try, right??

Beware the tyranny of fruits and vegetables: For some reason, the cranberry industry has convinced itself that First Lady Michelle Obama is out to destroy it. Never mind that she’s really all about promoting healthy eating and lifestyles and fighting obesity. CRANBERRY FARMERS TO THE BARRICADES!!! YOUR WAY OF LIFE IS ABOUT TO BE TAKEN AWAY BY BIG GOVERNMENT!!

Man, someone must have forgotten to take their Xanax….

Today’s non-denial denial: At some point in time, you’d have to think that Mitt Romney will have to step up and tell us where he actually stands on some issues, right? The way things are going, Romney seems to think he can win the election without telling us where he stands or what he’ll do once in office.

Now THAT’S some (not really very) principled leadership, eh??

Remind me again that we have the best health care system in the world: Though the Supreme Court may well rule Obamacare to be unconstitutional, it’s unpopular only among Republican politicians and Teapublican Zealots.

Once Americans understand what Obamacare actually is, they love it. All the more reasons for the Supremes to take it away.

When a Liberal does it, it’s the worst sort of judicial activism imaginable. When a Conservative does it, it’s measured, reasonable jurisprudence: Time was when the Supreme Court maintained at least a patina of nonpartisanship. They at least acted as if they were above partisan politics. Now it’s like they’re not even trying, especially Antonin Scalia, who has no problem engaging in judicial activism and social engineering from the bench.

After all, it’s acceptable when a Conservative does it.
