"Your Christians are so unlike your Christ...."

On today’s installment of the “Faith and Freedom” radio program, Matt Barber returned to his favorite theme of late, namely that liberals are tyrannical bullies who can only succeed in the public arena by intimidating their opponents into silence. But Barber, for one, will not be intimidated! And the reason he won’t be intimidated is because he works for an organization that has “liberty” in its name … and everyone knows that liberty is the key to furthering Biblical principles while progressive principles can only be imposed through tyranny, which is why the Left is always working to sidestep the Constitution….

It would be difficult to know where to begin when refuting the ignorance and hate-addled ignorance that fuels Matt Barber’s argument…or what passes for one.

I find it interesting that Progressive principles- charity, tolerance, compassion- are things that Jesus Christ (the same Jesus Christ Barber purports to revere) taught. How those values can only be imposed through tyranny and repression is something I just can’t wrap my head around. Meanwhile, following Barber’s “logic,” Conservative Christian values- which by contrast appear to be intolerance, lack of compassion, ignorance, reaction, and zealotry- would seem to be part and parcel of “liberty.”

Black is White. Day is Night. Up is Down. Tyranny is Freedom. Censorship is freedom of speech and expression. If you follow Barber’s logic, these are the conclusions you’d come to.

If being a Liberal and believing in charity, tolerance, and compassion makes me guilty of “tyranny”…well, you might as well beat the rush and get me a cigarette and a blindfold.

Sounds like it’s time for someone to throw the money-changers out of the temple again, eh?
