U.S. Still Religious, But Trust In Institutions Wanes: Perhaps it’s the result of individuals recognizing that institutions can offer only one-size-fits-all solutions, and that they have the ultimate power to determine what, if any, religious philosophy(ies) make sense for them. Like any other institution, the Vatican is concerned primarily with its own survival and enrichment…as is any other religious institution. Conformity and social control is the glue that holds everything together.
