Romney/Ryan 2012: Because America should leave the lying to the professionals

[I]t’s common to twist and distort and cherry pick. But Romney has flatly claimed that Obama said something that, in fact, a John McCain aide said. He’s snipped out sentences from an Obama speech and spliced the two halves back together so nobody can tell what he did. Then he did it again to another Obama speech. And he unequivocally said that Obama plans to drop work requirements for welfare even though he’s done nothing of the sort. This really is a post-truth campaign. It’s different. It’s one thing to be nasty. All campaigns are nasty. It’s one thing to twist and distort and mock. Every campaign does that too…. But this is different. This is a presidential candidate just baldly making stuff up on the assumption that nobody will ever know.

Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity, Vol. XXIX: Steve Benen’s masterful weekly compilation of Mitt Romney’s lies gets more depressing with each passing week. How is it that Romney can get away with such epic mendacity? Oh, right; he’s a Republicans, which means never having to say he’s sorry OR being held accountable for his dishonesty and lack of integrity.

Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity, Vol. XXX: Romney is claiming that this is a “time for truths,” and yet the weekly lists of his lies just keeps growing…and growing…and growing. I’m not certain Romney would recognize the truth if it showed up with a pair of kneepads and a tube of AstroGlide.

Mitt Romney Sure Does Lie a Lot, Doesn’t He?: When one of your campaign is described thusly, “I cannot recall a single presidential campaign ad in the history of American politics that lied more blatantly than this one,” you’re a world-class liar. Romney’s campaign has gone beyond mere deception and dishonesty and ventured into a complete lack of integrity and total disregard for the truth. Romney will knowingly repeat a claim that’s provably untrue if he thinks he can get some mileage out of it. That’s beyond dishonest; it’s immoral…but when winning is the only thing, immorality is no impediment.

It’s a Weekday, So It’s Time for Another Misleading Edit of an Obama Quote: There evidently are no depths to which Mitt Romney will not descend. I suppose when you know you can’t hope to compete on the issues, lies and creative (and misleading) editing are your best (and probably only) options.

Romney makes his tax-return troubles worse: “I know that you know that I know that I’m lying. Why not just stop asking questions and vote for me, already?? KTHNXBYE!!”

The 3 Boldest Lies Mitt Romney Has Told About Barack Obama: The GOP presidential candidate is “allergic to facts.”: There’s nothing bold about wanton dishonesty. There IS something cold-blooded about a man who continues lying, even though he has to know that anyone with half a brain knows he’s lying virtually every time he opens his mouth.

It’s actually a little scary to think of a leader — a man who’d be given enormous power and influence, literally making life and death decisions on a regular basis — who can convince himself that his falsehoods are true, and that others’ truths are falsehoods.

Mitt Romney’s Big Promises - and Bigger Lies: All you have to do is to convince the American Sheeple to vote for you. Once you win, you can forget, or in Romney’s case deny, every promise you made and lie you told during the campaign. After all, you were just doing what it took to win, right??.

All False statements involving Mitt Romney: The sad thing is that PolitiFact is only scratching the surface of Romney’s mendacity.

Mitt Romney Lies to Floridians by Saying He Will Protect Medicare: If you’re willing to be photographed with Floriduh Gov. Rick Scott, honesty and integrity aren’t exactly at the top of your hit parade.

Lies, Damned Lies, and Mitt Romney’s Ads: When lies, propaganda, shameless dishonesty, and creative editing are the best implements in your toolbox, you’re an example of the worst sort of epic mendacity.

The Biggest Mitt Romney Lie (So Far): And it’s only mid-August….

Mitt Romney’s lying problem - The Rachel Maddow Show: How is it that Romney can tell obvious, easily fact-checkable lies without being called out for his unscrupulous perfidy by the Mainstream Media? Yeah, right; WHAT Liberal Media??
