Another line crossed off on my bucket list

When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.

  • Willie Nelson

Somehow, I managed to live in Texas for 3,722 days without ever seeing Willie Nelson in concert. It certainly wasn’t for lack of opportunities, but for whatever reason it just didn’t happen. Tonight, I get to rectify that. Oddly enough, I had to make a choice between seeing Willie or the Old 97s, another Texas band I’ve been wanting to see for awhile. They’re both playing in the Portland area tonight. In the end, it wasn’t a difficult choice; Willie’s in his 70s, and he’s not going to be around forever. I can probaly see the Old 97s the next time they come through town. Even better, Willie’s playing outdoors on a day where the high in Portland is supposed to approach 90. It should be just about perfect.

There may not be much about Texas that I miss, but I do miss the music….
