Chuck Norris appeared on Fox & Friends on Friday morning to deliver a special message to the nation: America faces 1,000 years of darkness if President Barack Obama wins reelection. He told the Fox & Friends crew that he is supporting Mitt Romney because he does not think Obama has a plan to deal with unemployment. Norris was asked about the new ad he is putting out warning Americans not to become complacent about the declining state of the economy….. “It’s just something my wife and I decided to do,” said Norris. “We were sitting around talking bout our country and decided that, you know, we just wanted to put something out there to explain how we feel about the direction our country’s going.”
I often find myself wondering what’s possessed Conservatives these days. They hate Barack Obama, think he’s the worst thing for America since godless Liberalism…and yet they can’t seem to make a cogent argument for their antipathy towards the President. Ask them to detail why they hate President Obama, and what they’ll generally do is speak in generalities or twist facts to fit whatever their predetermined prejudice happens to be. Listen for awhile, and it’s hard not to wonder if their “arguments” can’t be boiled down to one very simple idea:
DON’T VOTE FOR THE BLACK GUY WITH THE FOREIGN-SOUNDING NAME!!!
That’s may seem overly simplistic, but I really do have to wonder about a segment of the population so addled by Obama Derangement Syndrome that they’d vote for two shameless, remorseless liars over a President who’s been stymied by Republicans at every turn. I find myself wondering if Conservatives actually have standards, or if they’d vote for a ham sandwich as long as it wasn’t named Barack Obama.
Tossing accusations of racism around is not something I take lightly, but what other conclusion can a lucid observer come to when you look at what’s happening during this election cycle? Chuck Norris has no real argument, just fear-mongering and the portrayal of Barack Obama as the Other, someone so evil and unlike us that his re-election will plunge America into 1000 Years of Darkness. In so doing, he’s turn both himself and his way into a pathetic exercise in self-parody. If Norris had an actual, logical argument to put forward, one based on facts and truth, I might feel differently. I’d probably still disagree, but I’d at least give him credit for supporting his argument. His “1000 Years of Darkness” exercise in fear-mongering is just another Right-wing exercise in hyperbole and racism…and barely worthy of recognition as anything but an outtake from Funny or Die.
Yes, ‘tis better to be thought a fool and a racist than to be Chuck Norris and remove any lingering doubt….
