GOP 2012: When you have to resort to voter intimidation, your ideas suck

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL)

Spread the word! If you run, own or manage a company, tell your employees! What was the CEO this week that said, if Obama is reelected, I may have to let all of you go next year? If Obama’s reelected, if the Democrats take Congress, I may not be able to cover your health insurance next year. If there’s ever a year where people who run, manage, or own their companies are going to energize their employees, it better be this year. We’re up against it.

It should be taken as a measure of just how desperate Republicans are that some employers- and now Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL)- have taken to the idea of voter intimidation as paving the path to victory.

Walsh, whose epic lack of self-awareness leaves him incapable of recognizing what a fool and a buffoon he is, is urging employers to tell their employees that they must vote for Mitt Romney. He’s not telling employers that they should try to convince their employees that Romney’s ideas are superior to President Obama’s; he’s telling them that they must intimidate them into voting the “right” way.

Even Mitt Romney has given his approval to employers engaging in voter intimidation:

I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections.

How morally and ethically bankrupt do you have to be in order to believe that you have the right to tell others how they must vote? Judging by what’s happening now, “morally and ethically bankrupt” pretty much defines today’s Republican Party. That Joe Walsh seems to be the poster boy for the GOP voter intimidation movement only confirms that Republicans have nothing of value to offer but fear-mongering, voter intimdation, lies, and propaganda. How’s that future looking for you?

The truly sad aspect of this saga is that many Americans will still vote Republican on November 6th. That’s their right, of course, but it just demonstrates how abysmally low the standards of the American electorate are. And when troglodytes like Joe Walsh can win a Congressional seat, there’s no doubt that we have exactly the quality of “leadership” we deserve.
