I’m not afraid of death; I just don’t want to be there when it happens.
- Woody Allen
If the Mayans were right, this will be my last post…not that anyone will be around to notice. The good news is that I’ll have an excuse for not finishing my Christmas shopping…’cuz I’m having a helluva time figuring out what to get Erin. Damn; why are women so difficult to buy for?
Ah, but I digress. Going into this last weekend before Christmas, it seems as if we’ve been through an awful lot over the past few weeks. There was the random shooting at the Clackamas Town Center mall here in Portland; another at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT; the looming “fiscal cliff”; the Packers about to make thing playoffs again…the list just doesn’t seem to end. So perhaps the world ending isn’t the worst thing that could happen, eh?
Wishing for “world peace” seems a bit trite and care-worn, but is it too much to hope that we can get through the rest of the holiday season without any more senseless mass murders? Can we at live “Peace on Earth” for a few more days before returning to our regularly scheduled carnage and bloodshed? Hey, a boy can dream….
See you tomorrow, unless…well, you know….
