And now a word from our sponsor...me

A considerable number of persons are able to protect themselves against the outbreak of serious neurotic phenonmena only through intense work.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I haven’t really beaten the drums on this one, but for the past nine months, I’ve been working on starting my own business. What I’ve learned (or at least finally had to admit) about myself is that I’m a very hard worker, but I’m a LOUSY employee. I’m not a corporate personality, I don’t deal well with office politics, and I have a difficult time with things that (and people who) bore me. These aren’t the only reasons I decided to start my own business; they’re just the ones I choose to make public. It’s time for me to do what feels like work I’m meant to do. To say that I’m excited about this wouldn’t begin to do justice to how I’m feeling, but it will have to do for now.

The graphic above is my business listing on the Nonprofit Network of Southwest Washington’s website. I’ve hung out my shingle as an independent grant writer; my niche is small- to medium-sized nonprofits, organizations too small and/or lacking the resources to have their own in-house grant writing staff. I can determine if a program idea is grant-ready, and if not how we can get it there. I can assist with all phases of the grant acquisition process, from program identification, to researching potential funders, information collection, and writing a grant application.

I also offer a wide range of consulting services tailored to smaller nonprofits. I can assist with strategic planning, managing growth, succession planning, and many other issues that confront nonprofits. In addition to grant writing, I also offer my services for virtually anything requiring complete sentences, from mission statements to marketing materials to website content and everything in between. If you work for or know of a nonprofit in the Portland-Salem-Vancouver-SW Washington area in need of a grant writer or related services, I’d be happy to speak with them. My first consultation is always gratis, and I offer discounts to members of the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, the Willamette Valley Development officers, and the Nonprofit Network of SW Washington.
