CLIFTON, Colo.—A suicidal Clifton man shot himself in the chest and the bullet went through his back and struck a woman who was inside the home, Mesa County sheriff’s deputies said.
Michael Sexton was wounded in the lung while attempting to kill himself on Wednesday, authorities said. Crystal Mannon was struck by the errant round, according to a police report.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel ( http://tinyurl.com/a5yhs6o) reported that no charges have been filed. The relationship between the two people and their conditions were not available.
The sheriff’s department said deputies were responding to a call about a suicidal man when they heard a gunshot and a wounded man and woman came struggling out the front door.
The leaseholder of the house, Colin Williams, was also there at the time.
Mannon told deputies she was breaking off a relationship with Williams and was moving out of the home.
