How I learned to embrace Republican lunacy and love the Bomb

A hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation.

It seems inevitable that Friday will come and go with out an agreement on the federal budget. The sequester will go into effect, and we’ll begin to experience what it’s like living under the malevolent hand of a political so adverse to compromise that they’d burn the house down in order to “save” it. How our economy will absorb the massive, untargeted, and frankly nonsensical across the board cuts is anyone’s guess. I’m not an economist, and I’ve not a clue. What I do know is that one party is so blindly and rabidly devoted to their ideology that what’s best for the country isn’t even a consideration.

It seems that there are a class of people in Washington whose power and influence rests on ensuring that people have their hair on fire over the federal budget deficit. WE MUST CUT SPENDING!!, they scream. SPENDING IS OUT OF CONTROL!! THE BUDGET DEFICIT IS AN EVER-GROWING MILLSTONE AROUND OUR NECKS!! That none of these things are true hardly seems to matter; they’ve convinced 94% of Americans that spending is rampant and out of control under President Obama. The truth is that spending as a percentage of GDP has DROPPED steadily during the Obama Administration. They’ve managed to convince the American Sheeple that deficit is growing to monstrous proportions, and that this President is to blame. The truth is that the deficit is smaller now that when George W. Bush left office.

And you wonder I used the term “American Sheeple”….

It astonishes me that so many with an “R” behind their name hate the President so much that they’d sooner watch America burn than compromise with him. The self-interest, the complete ignorance of facts, and their devotion to policies (austerity) has risen to a degree I find impossible to comprehend. Then again, given some of the mental and moral midgets behind the madness, this about all one could reasonably expect.

God (if she exists) help America….
