A Southwest Greensburg man was charged on Wednesday with discharging a weapon in his home earlier this month.
Patrick Leighty Henry, 43, of 401 Chestnut St., also was charged with recklessly endangering another person after borough police said the blast struck the brick foundation of his neighbor’s home.
Henry said he was practicing loading and unloading his 9 mm handgun when it accidentally discharged about 8:30 p.m. on March 9.
The blast traveled through a wall in Henry’s home and struck the neighboring house, authorities said.
Henry said he didn’t check on his neighbor’s welfare, police said.
No one was injured, Patrolman Derek Manley said.
The neighbor said he was in the basement of his home when he heard what he believed was ice falling from his home roof.
Police seized the weapon.
