James O'Keefe: Today's joyous trip on the Schadenfreude Express

[C]onservative activist James O’Keefe has agreed to a $100,000 settlement that resulted from a lawsuit filed against him by Juan Carlos Vera, a former employee of ACORN. In the suit, Vera charged that O’Keefe had illegally taped their conversation at a California ACORN office in 2010 as part of his “exposé” of the community activist group, which was later found to be fraudulent. Vera was portrayed in O’Keefe’s videos as offering assistance in setting up a nonexistent child prostitution ring. However, after his encounter with O’Keefe, Vera then contacted the police to report “possible human smuggling,” unaware that he was the subject of O’Keefe’s undercover camera sting. Vera claims he lost his job from the resulting fallout of O’Keefe’s undercover operation when the video of their encounter was posted on a Breitbart website…. O’Keefe has agreed to pay Vera $100,000 and as part of the settlement, “O’Keefe states that at the time of the publication of the video of Juan Carlos Vera he was unaware of Vera’s claims to have notified a police officer of the incident.” The documents go on to say that “O’Keefe regrets any pain suffered by Mr. Vera or his family.”

Not normally being one to take delight in another’s precipitous downfall, I will on occasion make an exception for those who’ve demonstrated themselves singularly unworthy of being granted even the barest minimum of consideration. James O’Keefe would have to be at the top of that list. Truly one of the most despicable Conservative excuses for humanity, O’Keefe’s “activism” consists solely of destroying those he happens to disagree with by any means necessary. His toolbox is stocked with lies, propaganda, dishonesty, a complete lack of integrity, an absence of even the barest shred of humanity, and the willingness to engage in any and all manner of character assassination. If he has to ruin live, careers, and/or reputations in he pursuit of his goal, so be it. Being considerate of the feelings of others is for losers and Liberals.

Even calling O’Keefe despicable doesn’t begin to do justice to the degree of damage he’s done to people who’s only “crime” was doing something they believed in. They were trying to make a difference, something O’Keefe will never understand, because he’s incapable of constructive action. What he knows- all he’s capable of- is destruction.

I doubt the $100,000 settlement will do much to deter O’Keefe’s crusade. Most likely, the settlement check will written by one of many well-heeled Conservative benefactors human scum like O’Keefe can appeal to in a time of financial need. O’Keefe may lay low for awhile, but zebras don’t change their stripes. Before long, he’ll be back to his old ways, working to destroy another starry-eyed Liberal simply for who they are and what they believe. It’s what he does; it appears to be all he knows.

I can only hope that there’s a very special place in Hell for James O’Keefe. He deserves far less, but I’ll settle for that.
