Porn and Texas: like peanut butter and jelly...or Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson

When I lived in Texas, a question that came up frequently was which region of the country the Lone Star State belonged to? Was it part of the south? The southwest? How could one make a convincing case for one or the other?

Turns out that perhaps the best way to settle the debate is to look at the state’s choices when it comes to porn searches on the Internet. If that’s a meaningful yardstick- and why wouldn’t it be?- then Texas is definitely NOT a southern state.

The question of whether Texas is part of the South or the Southwest has long been debated. Now we can answer that question, thanks to porn.

(Is there anything porn can’t do?)

PornMD, porn-searching website that apparently tries to wrap itself in the aura of the health industry, has put together rankings of each state’s top 10 most commonly searched terms on porn sites over a six-month period. (They also do it for countries.)

The Southern states’ leading search term seems to be “ebony” — it’s number one in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. We’re not going to speculate why.

Texas, however, eschews the “ebony” category. (To a degree, that is — it places 10th in the Lone Star state’s list.)

Number one in Texas? Teen….

After “teen,” Texans go to the other end of the age spectrum: “MILF” comes in second. Which means, we guess, that Texans are obsessed with age when it comes to their porn, they just can’t make up their minds about what age it should be.

I suppose I could expound at some length about the relationship between Texas and porn (and all those cowboys during the many long, lonely nights on the range), but sometimes it’s best not to try to add too much. Let’s just say that Texas most definitely isn’t a southern state; the rest of the debate I’ll leave to those with a vested interest.

Evidently, there really ISN’T anything porn can’t do.
