Another reason every day is Gun Appreciation Day

The father of the boy accidentally shot Thursday at a home in Marion County issued a statement today from Erlanger hospital, where the boy is being treated.

Marion County authorities say Ken Fagin accidentally shot his son after working on a Beretta 9 mm handgun.

He was test-firing it behind the family’s Kelly Cove Road home and accidentally shot his his son.

Fagin late Friday thanked caregivers for their treatment and others for their well-wishes.

“First, we want to thank everyone for everything they have done for our son, who is now recovering at Children’s Hospital for a wound to the shoulder,” Fagin said in a statement released by the hospital . “This was just an accident and Harley is doing fine. He’s had surgery, did great and understands everything that is going on.”

Harley’s back to regular 13-year-old activities, his dad said.

“He’s been watching SpongeBob this afternoon and is eating fine — Jell-O and grape slushies,” the father said on Friday.
