These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be.

Most rational, lucid people understand that the White House Correspondent’s Dinner is an event where humor reigns, often in the form of self-parody and/or self-satire. Say what you might about Barack Obama, but the man’s proven adept at poking fun at himself and how the Rabid Right sees him. Someone really should tell Chief Derp Ranger Jim Hoft and his merry band of inbreds that when Obama quipped about no longer being a “strapping, young Muslim socialist,” HE WAS JOKING.
One of the unfortunate hallmarks of the Rabid Right is an almost complete absence of anything remotely reminiscent of a sense of humor. Hoft, a blogger at Gateway Pundit, excoriated Obama for finally “owning up” to his true allegiance while simultaneously refusing to use the same terms to describe the Boston Marathon bombers. Those who commented on his post displayed even less intellectual alacrity.

What Hoft and his intellectually challenged acolytes fail to understand is that not everything is (or should be) political. Sometimes, being able to poke fun at oneself is a great way to relieve the tensions that comes with day to day life in the White House. Obama’s bon mot was self-satire- NOT a spiritual and ideological confession. Judging by some of the comments on Hoft’s post, you’d think that what transpired at the WHCD was a truly revealing “GOTCHA!!” moment.
This goes a long way towards explaining why he seeks out advisors who are Muslim Brotherhood. Of course, many of us KNEW he was lying about his religion from day one. And this isn’t the first time he’s let this one out of the bag.

Hmmm, after 5 years of being called a “racist” by every “tolerant” Liberal in America for calling him a “MUSLIM’ I wonder how many are going to call 0bama a racist for calling himself a Muslim?
He spent the first 5 years of his life someplace OTHER than America. He doesn’t know or understand or care to know or understand what it is to be “American”. The way he throws a Ball, the way he rides a Bike clearly show his act. His “act” is being American, the reality is he is Anti-American….

it’s not like any of us are surprised by this, we have know for years that’s what he was. The only surprise is he admitted it, though now that he is in his second term and he doesn’t care what people know anymore.
Charles Johnson referred to these comments as being from people who are “dangerously insane.” From where I sit, that’s a very kind and charitable description for people who not only lack a functional sense of humor, but are also devoid of a grip on reality. This is what happens when you never learn (or refuse to engage) critical thinking skills. When you’re incapable of thinking rationally, you’re liable to fall for anyone who posits a theory that COULD be true…no matter how irrational and insane it might be.
Stupid is as stupid does, and as much as I hate to write off others as too stupid to think rationally, sometimes you just have to call it what it is. Perhaps if they turned off Fox News Channel every now and then. Perhaps if they didn’t get their news from InfoWars, Breitbart.com, and Gateway Pundit, they might have something lucid to add to the public dialogue. As it is, these loons shouldn’t be allowed to express themselves about anything…unless they can do so without embarrassing themselves by displaying their intellectual incuriosity and vacancy for all to see.
Sometimes, calling someone an imbecile isn’t an insult. It’s the truth.
