Parents of fallen service members spoke at a press conference…an event during which they accused the U.S. government of complicity in the deaths of their sons. The families highlighted a number of grievances, including the notion that military brass invited a Muslim cleric to their children’s funeral in 2011 — an imam who they claim “disparaged in Arabic the memory of these servicemen.”…. Three families of fallen Navy SEAL Team 6 special forces members and one family of an Army National Guardsman held the event at the National Press Club to make this startling allegation, among many others. Their children perished during the fatal Chinook helicopter crash that occurred in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011. The presser was an effort, as noted in a press release, to corroborate the notion that the U.S. government is “as much responsible for the deaths of their sons as is the Taliban.”
One of the symptoms of Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS) is the pervasive conviction that The Black Guy in the White House © is a closet Muslim who secretly hates the baby Jesus and all things American. Those afflicted with ODS are overwhelmingly convinced that The Black Guy in the White House © wishes ultimately to turn America into a socialist, Godless Liberal dictatorship that he’ll eventually hand over to his Islamofascist overlords. They live in mortal fear of words like “Quran” and “Sharia,” because, while they might not know what they mean, they know in their heart of hearts that “ISLAM BAD!!” and “JESUS GOOD!!”
ODS sufferers can be cured only with an injection of reality, which most steadfastly refuse. The delusion that Obama is- despite all his remonstrations to the contrary- a closet Muslim becomes an article of faith, something requiring no proof…because they KNOW it to be true. The latest example of this detachment from anything resembling abject reality is the story related by The Blaze, Glenn Beck’s attempt to out-Drudge The Drudge Report. According to this account, family members of some fallen American soldiers were incensed that a Muslim imam was allowed to pray at their loved ones’ funeral. They evidently believed that the imam’s prayer included a passage condemning the soldiers to Hell. I won’t even get into the silliness of people who have no understanding of Islam trying to interpret a Muslim prayer. If you’re predisposed to view all Muslims as America-hating thugs who wish for nothing less than our complete destruction and subjugation to the will of Allah, there’s not much that I or anyone else can say to dissuade you. It’s probably too much to ask that you not dismiss Islam out of hand, eh? As if the Muslim flavor of imaginary friend is somehow less valid and worthy of consideration than your own.
There’s some question about the meaning of what the imam actually said. Given that, why must we choose to be offended by a Muslim cleric offered a prayer? Can’t we just accept the differences between Islam and Christianity for what they are? Is it really necessary to assume that whatever may or may not have happened was an intentional slight against good, God-fearing American patriots orchestrated by The Black Guy in the White House ©?
Or is it easier just to give into your ODS and believe the worst of the imam and the Obama Administration?
