You know you have Obama Derangement Syndrome when....

How much do Louisiana Republicans dislike President Obama? Many of them blame him for the government’s tragic response to Hurricane Katrina — which struck the state more three years before Obama took office.

stupid_people.jpgToday’s dispatch from our New Idiocracy comes to us from Louisiana, because…well, why not, right? The ferocity with which Republicans hate The Black Guy in the White House © can be truly stunning…if not grounded in any even faintly redolent of fact or reality. Granted, 2005 was a long time ago, but catastrophic hurricanes and their aftermath aren’t things easily forgotten. This should be true even of Louisiana Republicans- a motley collection of humanity not known for possessing an oversupply of intellectual candlepower under the best of circumstances. Still, this defies ANY sort of rational explanation…much less understanding.

‘Course, it might go a long way toward explaining the generalized Republican disdain for science….

Twenty-eight percent said they think former President George W. Bush, who was in office at the time, was more responsible for the poor federal response while 29 percent said Obama, who was still a freshman U.S. Senator when the storm battered the Gulf Coast in 2005, was more responsible. Nearly half of Louisiana Republicans — 44 percent — said they aren’t sure who to blame.

So, how stupid (and deranged by blind hatred and racism) do you have to be to blame Barack Obama for something that happened more than THREE YEARS before he took up residence in the White House? I get that Republicans in Louisiana hate Barack Obama, everything he stands for, and his skin color…but Jeebus Krispix, y’all; is it too much to expect that you’d have at least a minimal grip on reality? Barack Obama is not responsible for every ill that’s befallen this country since the Lindbergh baby was kidnapped. If you want to blame him for things that happened after January 20, 2009, that’s one thing; but blaming him for FEMA’s fumbling the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina? When he was still a freshman U.S. Senator? Get a grip, willya?? That one’s on Captain Codpiece ©.

Then again, when you hate The Black Guy in the White House © as much as the good, God-fearing, Conservative, Christian White Folks in Louisiana do, truth, facts, and reality are merely minor inconveniences. Who needs to acknowledge the way things really are when you can fall back on hatred, racism, and ideology? Why think when you can reflexively blame The Black Guy in the White House © for any and all ills facing this country? It sure beats trying to do something constructive, eh?

Wow. Just wow. The Stupid, it is strong in these folks, eh?
