Something that should scare all of us: Victoria Jackson wants to run for office. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Should I run for “Alderman” in my town? I wanna make a difference. I want to help educate my fellow Americans on Common Core, Agenda 21, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the urgency of getting involved in the political process, putting integrity back into office and halting the encroaching communism. I just hate the campaigning part…the begging for money, the signs, the hand-shaking, etc. Got any thoughts?

I’m a proud, unabashed, and unapologetic Liberal. No surprise there, eh? That said, I’m not one to believe that only people who think like me are worthy of being involved in our political process. Yes, I believe most of today’s Conservative ideology is not just wrong, but dangerously so, but I think our democracy is best served by having both sides of the political/ideological fence represented. If nothing else, maintaining that sort of balance/tug of war helps to prevent the sorts of excess that can happen when one party enjoys an unbreakable grip on power.

Our democracy works best (and arguably only works at all) when those involved in setting policy have both feet firmly grounded in reality. With the advent of the Tea Party, that reality has been repeatedly proven to be elusive. The examples are too numerous to mention. Government doesn’t work when the people involved in it are, for lack of a more polite description, bat-$#!% crazy. I say this because it’s comes to light that Victoria Jackson, the Tea Party’s Queen of Bat-$#!% Crazy, is contemplating getting into politics. For reasons known only to herself, Jackson thinks she actually has something of value to offer. Unfortunately, the ability and willingness to repeatedly make a fool of oneself publicly isn’t much of a resume for an aspiring public servant. Especially when you lay this out as your platform:

I want to help educate my fellow Americans on Common Core, Agenda 21, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the urgency of getting involved in the political process, putting integrity back into office and halting the encroaching communism.

I’m still not sure why Jackson and her ilk see Common Core educational standards as A threat to Our Way of Life ©. As near as I can tell, having nationwide standards are but one step removed from jackbooted government thugs patrolling the halls of our public schools. Yep, when we raise academic standards, toughen graduation requirements, improve assessments, and strengthen accountability, we teach our children to think critically. And when our children think critically, they’ll realize how bat—$#!% crazy Jackson and her fellow tea baggers truly are. When that happens, sanity will be restored…and teabaggers will suffer the consequences.

For only when Americans do and think what Fox News Channel tells them to will America be truly safe.

Is our children learning? Not if Jackson has anything to say about it.

As for Agenda 21, you should probably recognize it for what it is:

[A] non-binding, voluntarily implemented action plan of the United Nations with regard to sustainable development.

Or you can, as Ted Cruz did during his Senate campaign, hold forth about how the UN wants to outlaw golf courses. Agenda 21 is no more a blueprint for One World Government than Tim Horton’s is a Canadian plot to corner the world doughnut market. It’s been flogged by tea baggers and other Far Right nutjobs over the past few years as the UN’s thinly veiled plan to rule the world. I’m not certain what threat sustainable development poses to American sovereignty, but Jackson and those who think like her have convinced themselves otherwise. Hey, if no threat exists, what’s the harm in inventing one out of whole cloth, eh?

The Muslim Brotherhood is another of the Tea Party’s favorite bogeyman. Evidently, they believe the Brotherhood has infiltrated the federal government all the way to the Oval Office. Hey, we have a President with a Muslim name; what more evidence do you need, amiright?? The Brotherhood is about as much of a threat to our safety, security, and well being as Sharia, which is to say nonexistent. Still, when you have nothing of value to offer, fear mongering, lies, and propaganda are about all you have to work with.

Today’s coffee spew moment: Jackson also wants to restore integrity to government and halt the spread of “encroaching communism,” whatever that means. If Jackson was at all concerned about integrity, she’d recognize and come clean about her dishonesty and fear mongering…like that’s ever going to happen. As for “encroaching communism,” I don’t have a clue what that refers to, other than it’s just another attempt to deflect attention from the sheer vacancy of tea bagger ideology and talking points. Communism is no more a threat to American democracy than Tim Horton’s is a threat to Canadian peace, order, and good government.

So…should Jackson run for office? Why not? The entertainment value alone should be worth something, because it’s not as if she has anything of value to offer. It’s not exactly a stretch to call her an idiot, a walking, talking exercise in self-parody, but who am I to advocate that she be denied a forum with which to thoroughly embarrass herself?

Comedy isn’t pretty.
