The is what happens when you hate The Black Guy in the White House. Just. That. Much.

The great media punditry and political pontificators are all aflutter over the VA fiasco from Phoenix and elsewhere. John McCain can’t run to the microphone fast enough to offer up his two cents while FOX, CNN and MSNBC are in full competitive outrage mode, each seeking to outdo the other with flashing chyrons of righteous fury. The circus is loud and shrill and full of sparkly shiny hollow indignation. The America Legion has apparently called for the resignation of Gen. Shinseki as Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The smell of blood and blame is in the water.

Republicans in Washington have spent the past five-plus years trying to find (or create) a scandal- ANY scandal that would stick to Barack Obama. Despite their efforts- from the pathetic overreach to the desperately silly- they’ve not found anything that could gain any traction. Fast and Furious turned out to be a program that started on George W. Bush’s watch, as were the Wall Street and auto industry bailouts. The VA “scandal” may have resulted in the resignation of Gen. Eric Shinseki, but the problems Republicans are decrying existed under George W. Bush. Benghazi could be laid to Republicans cutting the State Department’s budget for diplomatic security, or, as Hillary Clinton wrote in her new book, “There is a difference between unanswered questions and unlistened to answers.” Nonetheless, they continue investigating Benghazi in a furious and desperate effort to embarrass the President.

Hmm…where was this impressive Republican outrage after 3000 Americans were killed on 9.11 and it turned out the Bush Administration had advance warning?

As allegedly fiscally conservative Republicans burn through millions of tax dollars in their effort to bring down The Black Guy in the White House ©…well, at least we know what they truly care about. Five years in, Republicans have nothing to show for their efforts, except for the millions wasted because they hate The Black Guy in the White House © with a fiery passion normally reserved for Liberals.

Over the past five years, Republicans have amply demonstrated their disdain for the American Sheeple and the issues that concern them. For the Republican caucus, it’s not about doing the people’s business. It’s not about doing the job they were elected to do. It never was. It’s about making American safer for good, God-fearing, Conservative White billionaires. It’s about turning this country into a dog-eat-dog, I-got-mine-you-can-damned-well-get-your-own, compassion-free oligarchy in which the sole reason for existence of the have-nots is to serve and advance the interests of the haves.

It’s not about governing. It’s about doing everything within their collective power to ensure that this President fails. If America happens to go down with him, so be it. I suppose some things are more important than democracy. For five years, Republicans have blocked, obstructed, and frustrated the President’s agenda at every turn…and then we get to listen to them whining about Barack Obama’s “incompetence.”

One of my greatest frustrations is having to listen to people complain about how Barack Obama “hasn’t accomplished anything.” Instead of looking at the truth of the past five years, they focus narrowly on what they perceive to be the President’s inefficiency and ineptitude. Left unexamined is five years of Republican intransigence and obstruction- the real reason for this President’s “ineptitude.”

Republicans may not have succeeded in forcing Barack Obama to vacate the White House in abject shame, but they’ve managed to effectively neuter his agenda…all while they whine about how the President won’t “work with them.”

Even better for them is that they’ve successfully shifted the blame from where it should be- on them- and deflected it to the President. If only Barack Obama had “reached out more,” or “shown a willingness to compromise.” And they’ve propagandized the American Sheeple into believing that The Black Guy in the White House © really is solely to blame for his “lack of accomplishments.”

I’m still waiting for someone to explain why we keep electing Republicans- outside of the fact that we’re a stupid, undemanding lot willing to be told what to think rather than thinking for ourselves.

It would appear we have exactly the quality of leadership we deserve, eh?
