When a Liberal does it, it's a crime; when a Conservative does it, it's supporting a Republican candidate

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly had conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D’Souza on her show for his first interview after he pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance law. Calling it a sympathetic interview would be an understatement, because Kelly used nearly the entire time to suggest that President Obama is the real person to blame…. “[T]he Obama administration gets to call one of its top critics a convicted felon,” Kelly began the segment. “Is this what they wanted all along?” In January, D’Souza was indicted for illegal donations to a Republican’s campaign, where he used fake donors to exceed donation limits.

In case any of y’all might have entertained the delusion that Fox News Channel really IS “Fair and Balanced”, allow me to present Megyn Kelly, the face of the GOP’s news channel and propaganda arm. In the space of a shade less than three and a half minutes, Kelly managed to thoroughly destroy the illusion that FNC is anything but a collection of fawning apologists and cheerleaders for Conservatives.

Despite her attempts to paint Dinesh D’Souza as a victim of the evil, craven Obama Administration’s drive for political payback, there’s one unassailable fact in play here: D’Souza broke the law. He was caught, charged with violating federal campaign finance law, and he pled guilty. He admitted breaking the law, telling Kelly, “I shouldn’t have done it.” For a news channel and an anchor so dedicated to law-and-order Conservatism, it should be a no-brainer, right? Break the law, suffer the consequences…except for one little detail: D’Souza is a Conservative activist and FNC loves him. Because of this, Kelly and others at FNC are fully engaged in pushing the propaganda that D’Souza is a victim of a political vendetta that can be traced directly to the Oval Office.

To that epic dishonesty I would offer only one question in response: What would the reaction had been if D’Souza was a Liberal activist and pled guilty to the same crime? I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to believe that FNC talking heads couldn’t build a gallows and string the rope fast enough for justice to be done.

An array of Fox News hosts have come to the conservative activist’s defense in the past, including Sean Hannity calling him a “victim,” The Five panning the charges as liberals “redescovering their inner Stalin,” and Neil Cavuto calling it “conservatives under attack.”…. Kelly’s interview only made one passing mention of the fact that D’Souza had actually knowingly broke the law.

D’Souza knowingly committed a felony. He got caught, he confessed, and he’s now a convicted felon. His conviction isn’t the result of a political vendetta directed at him; it’s a direct result of his committing what he knew to be a crime…and getting caught.

Whatever happened to the “Party of Personal Responsibility”? Or does that expectation only apply to Liberals?

The clear and obvious double standard at work here is made even more so by the lack of effort made to conceal it. Kelly spent 3:23 trying to whitewash D’Souza’s crime and paint him as an innocent victim. How could D’Souza possibly be an innocent victim when he “knew that causing a campaign contribution to be made in the name of another was wrong and something the law forbids.”

Yeah, that’s EXACTLY the sort of vicious, vindictive thing this White House would do in order to grind a political adversary under their boot heels. When will they learn that Conservatives are patriots and Liberals are godless, America-hating heathens whose only desire is to destroy us in order to turn America over to their Muslim overlords, who will force us to live under Sharia law??

Move along, people. No double standard here….
